#2 on my list of stuff the truck needs, 1978 F150. Ive been having brake issues , pulled off the drums and noticed this on both. I see its wrong in comparison to these pictures https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ing-cable.html .
You can see in my pictures that the adjusting lever is not sitting correctly, Ive pulled the blue spring to the left to position it correct but it will go right back down. Not sure what the problem is here.
Could also be stretched adjuster cables, or a worn adjuster cable guide (the 1/4 circle piece that the adjuster cable does a 90 degree turn through). A too-worn cable guide has a slot worn through the metal of the guide, so it effectively lengthens the cable, as far as the adjuster operation is concerned. I can't tell the condition of the guide in your truck's pic, but the other pic you showed for reference looks great
replaced the adjuster and the wire, all is good now. Except for the new antifreeze I lost in the parking lot while adjusting the lower rad hose due to a drip...ug
Well, I thought it was good, I pulled it back apart to give the parking brake cables some attention and now I cant get the adjusting lever to sit right again. Could that wire have streched?
