Hey everyone so I finally got my dream truck after six years of waiting, it's a 1959 F350 292y block and a 4 speed and she runs like a dream, but I had a question on how to get the fuel gauge to work it doesn't read anything at this time and carrying the old gas can and praying you get where you wanna go is getting tiresome any help would be great thanks!
First thing you want to do is get a 1959 Ford Truck Shop Manual, you'll refer to it often.
The system is pretty simple. Gauge, and Sender, wiring. Can check gauge itself by grounding sender yellow wire to ground for several seconds. Gauge should peg to "full". That is not likely the problem but a process of elimination. Check float - they will sink when fuel logged. Check sender arm for free movement when checking it out for gauge movement, etc., they do go bad eventually.
