Just wanted to give a huge shout out to Riffraff.
Got the (POS)ATS ported housing from them and it doesn't fit. 1/2" longer outlet and the outlet is at the wrong angle.
This is not Clays fault. I tried to talk to ATS (they are only about 45 minutes away) but got nothing but BS.
Clay reached out to me and offered to machine the housing and spider to make them fit.
I cant have the truck down any longer so he overnighted me a compressor wheel so I can install it in my old housing and send him the ATS POS and he will fix it and send it back to me with a matching spider.
Is Clay going to look into this design flaw to see if any of the other ones he has on stock are the same way? If I was Clay I would be thinking of dropping the ATS.
The ATS housing was so off its not even funny. Im not happy with it at all. I took some pics. Ill see about uploading them.
The passenger side of the spider was touching the plenum and it still needed to come down 1/4"-3/8" to be the same height as the turbo outlet. I do have inserts in the plenum but they only add about 1/8"
I did end up getting it to fit after talking with Clay and staring at it over a couple of adult beverages. As great as it was for Clay to do what he was going to do I really didn't want to pull the turbo two more times to get that POS to fit plus I really needed the truck the next day.
I had to machine (belt sand) about 1/2" off the passenger side spider outlet, heat the boots up real good on a space heater, installed boots to plenum, then spider, pushed the boots up the spider as far as I could without them popping off the plenum, then with the spider ground down far enough to get the height correct I was able twist and shout the spider to the POS ATS housing and camp it because of the super soft boots. The drivers side of the spider is off to the side about 3/8" (plus the angle of the 2 is off by a 1/4" or more) of the plenum. Finally pushed and shoved the boots the rest of the way down on the plenum, installed clamps and did a boost leak test.
It did seal up, but the boots are tweaked pretty good. Not sure im very comfortable with it.
Clay. I tried to call you back to let you know not to send the loaner wheel but you were already closed. Ill ship it back directly. Thanks Again!!
