I got my 93 as a first car about 1 year ago, all was well except the transmission which was kicking when it shifted, and overdrive would go in and out unless you went VERY easy on the gas pedal. Now the transmission doesn't seem to be downshifting all the way, and when coming to a stop sign/red light/etc, the truck drops to about 300 RPM and will stall, unless you hold the brake, peg the gas pedal and it'll kick hard and jump up to about 1500 RPM and then it'll idle right. And now when I start it up, and start driving, I have to let it completely warm up and then some and sometimes it'll still do it, but the truck will not go into gear, it starts revving up, and goes no where, unless you smash the pedal and it'll jump into gear hard and then be good until you come to a stop and then it sort of "resets" and doesn't do that anymore. Anyone know if this sounds like just a new transmission or more?
New discovery! While driving home i decided it may be easier to tap the gas in neutral versus fighting the brakes, and actually just putting it into neutral brings the rpm from around 500 to 1500 then it drops back down to idle rpm. This change anything
Also, the truck kicks like a donkey when put into gear (Reverse, OD, D), and when I force it to go into overdrive (let off gas pedal for a second and then it'll drop the ~1000 RPM, and baby the throttle, as well as just normal 1-2, 2-3 shifting etc etc. Which is why i assumed transmission.
