So; I bought my 07 f350 6.0 the other day. I have a light on that sends a code for glow plug control module, but the truck starts fine, the same in cold temperatures as warm, so far nothing below 32 degrees though.
I dont have the code # at the moment, but will update when i get the scanner back. Any ideas as to why this module is throwing a red flag?
also; if anyone has any suggestions on chips/programmers best suited for this truck please let it be noted. Not looking for raw tire blistering performance, more fuel economy, towing power as a secondary objective
Take a look at the plug at the glow plug, make sure it isn't cracked. If you have a failed glow plug, the harness connectors are extremely fragile and you'll need the tool to lift it. The glow plug is cheap, the harness about 50 bucks per side.
It is also possible that your module is having an issue. Check that first. The shop I use has a glow plug module that has an issue with glow plug #6. The this module to verify bad glow plugs / harness / module. If it's the module that is an easy swap out. If it is a glow plug, it is really worth your while to change out all the plugs on that side.
