I need to do the rear brakes on my converted dually but one side is stuck. I have used lots of PB blaster and some beating with a 2lb sledge but have only been able to get one siDE off in 2 days. I am hesitate to hit the spacers to hard as they are aluminum. I have beat the cap out of the drum hoping to break it loose. I have tried to use a wedge to drive between the spacer and the drum.....
Heat the spacer?? Other ideas?
Stuck side
Side removed

Yeah that can be a real headache. I would say using some heat is probably your best bet. Don't get the aluminum too hot, but I think getting it to expand a little is probably your best bet.
I would try to get a good sharp chisel started in between the spacer and the drum as well. If you bung up the edges of the spacer, you can always clean them up with a file before you reassemble it.
Unfortunately this galvanic corrosion is what happens with dissimilar metals when they're combined in a damp, corrosion inducing environment.
How are those adaptor studs fastened? Id be tryin to take them off first. Thin wall deep socket should fit in there. I had spacers on my last truck while i was runnin H1 hummer rims, a little different setup but those damn studs are whats giving you the greef....

They are just stud extenders and the spacer gets sandwiched between the wheels and drum.
But yes, you can can get a thin wall socket in there and remove the studs.... that I would say is most of the problem.
Looking at the picture of the one that he actually got off, I don't think there is enough clearance in the holes in the spacer to allow him to get even a thin wall socket in there. Assuming that the spacer fits tight over the round portion of the stud extensions, I don't think it is gonna happen. The corners of the hex portion of the stud extension look like they go almost all the way out to the edge of the round portion. The only way I see that happening is if the bore of the holes in the spacer is stepped at the hex portion.

What a pain. What a terrible design.
Mine were stepped.. But... Looking at the 1st pic again It seems that there isnt enough room.. Perhaps a double nut situation.... As long as you can get each stud to turn your golden...
Thanks for all the suggestions. There was no room for a socket ,even if I had a 1"that deep...on order. I did not try to hard with the double nut as I am sure I can't get replacement studs. The hole in the spacer does not go all the way through.
I finally got it off with some heat,PB, and more pounding. The spacers were stuck to the extenders and the hub. I will clean it all up and use LOTS of antiseze.
I have been looking for a real rear and front hubs but I have not decided if I should go back with posi trac????? Input?
