Hi,
I was at TSC today and saw a 2008 F250 CCSB that was lifted and modified. This guy had replaced the factory fog lights with aftermarket units and placed the factory fogs outboard because the slots in the bumper were wider. I thought that this was a great way to add extra driving lights to my Excursion if this bumper would fit.
Does anyone know if a 2008 and newer bumper fit on a 2005 Eddie Bauer Ex? Mine is rusty and dented(previous owner!!) so I want to replace it anyway.
Not without a lot of additional work, the frames of the later model trucks are about 3" lower than the EX's where the bumper attaches. It has been done and looks great, this will also require the matching '08 front clip so everything mates up correctly.
Member Archtaan did a '10 SD front clip conversion on his old EX using an aftermarket bumper, but his build should provide some insight to the process. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...the-works.html
Some have added the 11+bumper on 05 f250. It looks different and a little out of place but adds light further out and can add a light bar or more fogs in the middle.
Thanks for the quick response guys. I am trying to figure out how to add additional lights and possibly a 2" front receiver. I know you can buy front receivers but my fogs would need to be remounted. Maybe I should do something like Snowseeker's front.
Here are some more ideas for keeping the stock '05 fog lights and having a front receiver hitch, first guy modified his light brackets to keep them in the stock location (but a little bug-eyed ) and then in post #15 housedad provides a link (that leads to more links....) on his method. Housedad swapped out his front spring hangers and blocker beam for the '03 version which then allows for use of the Curt hitch for the '03 that has the receiver tube come out BELOW the bumper, leaving the stock fogs in place. Good stuff! https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...tallation.html
Thanks WE3ZS. I prefer the look of the hitch between the original fog lights but worry that it would block a lot of airflow as well. This is something I would like to do though as it would be nice when putting a trailer in tight spot as well as having a place to quick mount a winch. I have already purchased the quick connects for the battery hookups.
I still may end up doing something custom as I would really like to have some extra driving lights as well. Once I decide which way to go I will post pictures once I get started.
