Cloth Headliner

So thinking about re-covering the headliner. I've seen a lot of people replace headliners with sheets and what not. I've seen a few on Craigslist that use rebel flags, or maybe it's just the same one over and over again.

So has anyone done this with the Blue interior like what I have? Been able to match the color up closely enough or not even tried? Also, was thinking of fixing the dash, so would like to find Blue Vinyl that closely matches, Or I could find a different color if it doesn't clash to bad. Have some black left over from a Motorcycle seat I did a while back. Will use that if I can't find anything else that works. It'll look better than the cracked dash on the 89.

Anyway. Off to look at a couple of parts trucks! Wish me luck!

I have had quite a few covered. The cloth comes with the foam backing and you must scrape all of the old foam off of your cardboard base. It's kind of a pain but worth it.

Where in NC are you?

I'm in Fuquay-Varina. So you think I can just go through somewhere like the local Ford dealership? If so, do you think the same Blue was carried from 89 through till 96\97 for the interior colors? if so that would work, being OEM and all.

i really haven't found anyone that says their are any differences betwen the 92-97 crew cabs and the 87-91 crew cabs. At least the basic stuff.

Well then, You'll know where the JD dealer is, and I'm right behind there, just off of 401. Been here for a couple of years. I just put in a request to join your OBS group on FB. So you should be seeing that soon. You know we do a FTE Dinner once a month right? Usually it's not too much of a haul from this area.

Nah, just peel the cloth off, take a wire brush to the old dead foam to remove it and find a local auto upholstery shop to cover it. I doubt you'd find any from Ford and if you did they'd want as much as your truck is worth or more for it.

I come through your neck of the woods on my weekly trip to Rocky Mount.

Also, Somewhere I read that the Crew cab head liners will slide out the rear door if the rear seat is removed. I can't see how that will work in my head, but I read it on the internet so it must be true!!!

Also. I did NOT remove the foam from the headliner, I just carefully pealed back the original fabric leaving the foam. Then glued new fabric down. It leaves many more choices of fabric
