First off thanks for the great site ... so much info!
I have a new 2014 F250 FX4 Lariat with 4 upfitter switches and wanted to find out how I would go about hooking up a rear facing LED bar or spotlight or work light or whatever you guys think is best for loading and unloading at night.
My questions are as follows:
A) do you have a good recommendation as to type of light to use to light up the space behind the truck while working / playing /camping ?
B) How exactly would you run the wire assuming its on top of the truck to the AUX switches which I know are found in the engine compartment and or under the steering wheel.
I don't want to just start ripping things apart without having a good plan as to how the wire will get that distance.
I installed a Ranch Hand headache rack with the tail/turn/brake lights as well as white back up lights on it. I wired the white back up light to my number 3 upfitter switch and use those of lighting up the bed at light. I can also turn them on should additional reverse lighting be needed.
I know that doesn't answer your question, but it's an option.
I would guess that the easiest way to wire what your looking to do would be to run the wires in to the cab via the rear Cyclops brake light/cargo light at the rear of the cab.
LED flood lights would work good for you. One thing I didn't think about before I mounted mine on my headache rack is that the area right behind the truck will be in a shadow, but I can't see that backing up anyways.
Search on here, I've seen guys use existing holes in the hitch to mount lights under the bumper.
I ran wires along the frame to the pass through wires under the hood. Worked out good for me.
