I have led lights mounted to the rear my truck for extra lighting. I have them to an aux switch. I want to run them to both the aux and reverse lights. I was wondering if i can also splice it into the reverse lights so they go on when i reverse when they aren't being used by the up fitter switch
The first thing I tried was connecting my extra lights and backup camera to both the reverse circuit and my aux switch, with a 5 amp diode on one of the feeds. Apparently 5 amps is not enough, as the diode got hotter than I was comfortable with, and the camera would't power up with the reduced voltage that diodes let through.
So for now they are only connected to the switch, but when I get time I will put in a relay instead.
There are several other ways to do it, but here is a diagram I found on one forum. You might also try a google search for "relay diagram reverse lights" for other ideas.
