Here is my problem:
I drove to Durango last week in the snow, no problem in the snow and ice with the 4x4 {except ending up in a bank one time} Parked the truck for 3 days of snowboarding. 5 minutes into the drive down the mountain I hear what sounds like grinding gears and or maybe a bad gear mesh. The sounds and drag that is put on the truck is only present when off the throttle, much more noticeable above 30 mph. I took it out of 4x4 sound is gone, no drag. Put it in low range same sound and drag present.
Driver and passenger u-joints and both front drive shaft universal joints "Look OK" no obvious signs of damage.
I have manual locking hubs and manual 4x4 shift in my 2000 F250 7.3L
Front differential has never been serviced nor the transfer case.
no I haven't. Do is that the most logical place to start? im not to concerned right now since it only acts up in four wheel drive so when i do dive into it i would like to do it as systemic as possible.
