Odd ball 99 4r100

Hey guys first post since my introduction. my truck is a 99 f450. I pulled the original transmission out of the truck today.only 33000 miles on it. And it has no speed sensors on top, it has a plug on the bellhousing where a sensor should be and nothing on the tail housing. Also my truck wiring has no provisions for those sensors. All original. Anybody ever heard of this? Hoping that mark kovalski will weigh in.

I know for years ford used the rear ABS sensor in diesels for the speed sensor.

That's what I assume my truck is using. But it has the v10 in it.

That is different. Not sure what to say about that one. Either from the rear end yet or maybe integrated threw the trans wire harness somehow?

It is definitely strange. The truck is a 99 but has a build date of early 98 I want to say March. I've talked to some ford service techs and none of them have heard of anything like it. Just thought I would post on here and get some opinions. I'm replacing the trans with a rebuilt 4r100 and planning on ignoring the two speed sensors.

Check your rear end housing. I suspect you have a speed sensor screwed into it. Most of the 10.25 and 10.5 rears had it in them.

Do you know for sure it's the original transmission? You are describing an E4OD, not a 4R100. Yes, you have a speed sensor in the rear end. That doesn't explain the lack of two speed sensors in the transmission.

The e4od wouldn't have a spot for the sensor in the bellhousing though would it?

Also there is a spot in the wiring harness that looks like a plug for the front speed sensor. However it's a fake its just a cap there aren't any pins inside. Weirdest thing I've ever seen I wish I was making it up.

No, and neither would a 4R100. Neither of them would have a sensor in the bellhousing.
