Telescoping mirrors stuck

I just purchased a 1999 F-350 SD SRW today and I can't get the mirrors to slide in. I have tried spraying WD-40 into the small space between the mirror and the glide but I doubt it penetrated deep enough. Is there a way to disassemble the mirror to lubricate the glides?

They may be the fixed length style. What is the build date of the truck??

Sounds like you have the NON-Telescopic arm tow mirrors.

Thanks.

I thought this could be the case. What threw me off was that the two bars holding the mirror had paint scraped off on the tops and bottoms as if the mirror was adjustable.

Maybe the prior owner had a CB antenna mounted there?

Are you sure they aren't in all the way already? I ask because I first tried pushing mine in only to realize later that they were in all the way already. They pulled out just fine.

na, telescopic mirrors weren't an option in 99. the only shot you have is if the previous owner bought them and put 'em on the truck

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your help. Now I am pretty sure that the mirrors are fixed. Neither side budges from banging and/or lubrication. I guess I will live with the extension; I just hope I don't smack mirrors.

At least I am back in a Ford.
