Can anyone point me in the right direction what would be easier to do a Cummins or 7.3 idi and if theirs a company that makes the mounts/ conversion kits for the 72f250 4x4 with automatic o erdrive trans thx
While there are a few that will argue that the 7.3 is the better choice I would go with the cummins. If you don't necessarily want to make big power then find a pre 94 VE pump 5.9. If you want to make big power find a 94 to 97 P-pump 5.9. Only one wire required to get it running. A much simpler engine with around 40% fewer parts compared to the 7.3. Usually gets better fuel mileage as well. And to get more power, a few tweaks to the pump with a fuel pin and spring upgrade usually wakes up the VE pump cummins pretty good.

who makes the crewmembers/mounts for the Cummins conversion
There is actually a company that does nothing but put Cummins engines inside Fords. Company is called Ford Cummins. They say they can successfully do the swap on a 1969 or newer Ford truck. Not too sure why the 1967/1968s aren't included, but if I had the money to do it, it might be worth considering. Pretty sure they only swap in 12V early 90s cummins engines due to how basic they are. As of rite now in Southern California, diesel cost less than regular and diesels are getting nearly twice the mileage! Only thing would scare me, is I don't know how to work on a diesel engine.
Cummins is easier but I'd like to see more 7.3 swaps. Doesn't destroked or something like that make the mounts? You will need to modify the engine crossmember though for sure.

Either way, good luck with your engine swap!

Boy this sounds like it will be a lot cheaper than buying New!
I already have a quote to put a re-manufactured Jasper Engine and Trans. in my 95F250 XLT, and a new rear end, and complete paint job I was beginning to think about buying a new F-250
Like a kid in a candy store again.
