Over the years I've collected a ton of event t-shirts which some have been worn til stained and tattered and others have been hidden away in some dark forgotten place. After visiting Barber's Motorsports Museum I saw what I thought was a great idea for old t-shirts..........a quilt.
So my wife has been working hard digging out old shirts and deciding what to use and how to arrange them on my future quilt.
I cut the logo or graphic off the back and mount them on my shop walls. Sort like a history of hard work. Reminds me of a time in the project in the past.
I wear mine too! However, I hate the thought of just throwing them away when they get old. Patina t shirts, anyone?
My shirts have been worn and some look better than others. The only requirement my wife has is no holes. I've got shirts that go back to the Grand Run I and I did have some from the unsanctioned Outlaw Rod Runs that used to occur on the last full weekend of September in Gatlinburg, Tn. These days I've gotten over having to buy every event t-shirt.
