taking intake off
I know I have to drain some coolant, pull all turbo tubes, turbo ( just verified) is there any thing else? I know the up-pipe but im changing it anyway. Do you have to pull ficm or the oil filter housing, degas bottle?

6-8 hours depending on how deliberate you are, how much you take out, and how comfortable you are in general. 20+ if you want to be ****-retentive and clean up everything. SCT fitting at the same time is a no-brainer if you haven't done it yet, blue spring also.
Random tips list:
new green o-ring for the crankcase vent
PUSH don't pull the injector harness clips
new intake gaskets, plan on the "reusable" ones cracking when removed

for the turbo oil feed that goes into the top of the oil cooer/filter
assembly. It took me about 3 days with my back the way it was.
One thing that comes in really handy is a sheetrock bench with
the fulley ajustable legs. Also some padding on the hood latch
and at the point where the shroud has the label. That thing tends to
hit right in the center of the chest and is hard on the ribs and sternum.
Some high density polly foam about 2" thick fills the change in
the hight of the front to the nose of the truck. I also removed my
grill just to keep from beating it up. While it was off I also charged
both batteries off the truck. The one thing I did not do was a delete.
I had gotten a EGR cooler score on Ebay. It was meant to go to BPD
as the core unit and I found that it was in fact a BPD EGR Cooler. Nice
score for $33.00 with shipping. The guy did not know what he had
and was doing a delete on his truck.
So that BPD EGR cooler when on mine. I have it turned off with a
program but it's all still there.
Anyway while you have the top off have a look at any of your grounds
that you can get at and clean them along with the alternator base and
the under side of it. Clean and it makes a better path for grounding.
But you know that.
I did drop the intake in some Extreme Simple Green and then hit it
with a pressure washer and it came out reasonably clean. If I had the
correct turbo pedestal I would of had it all nice and power coated. But my
guy sent me one for the early turbo not the one on the 06. He got one
in the mail but it did not make it in time. So next time the turbo comes off
guess what it gets. BTW I still have the old style one that he said to keep.
If anyone wants it speak up and just pay for shipping and it's yours.
Also anyone know if the turbo needs an active ground or not? If I have the
pedestal power coated it will be insulated as far as a ground path goes.

But I also have a 150 gallon diesel tank from an OTR
that is taking up some space and I really need to find
it a new home. It turned out to be a tad too big for what
I wanted to do with it. Bed mount 150 gal tank and I bet every
cop on the road will be looking at me.

You can get the turbo out without removing the alternator. I think I just removed the bolts and tilted it front.
I would replace the STC fitting while you are in there. It really isn't much more work, and you are right there.
