I've got an 89 f-350 with a 351w. For the last 3-4 weeks it's had a spit and sputter to it loss of power just irritating as all get out. I've changed the plugs and wires and cap and rotor air and fuel filters and cleaned the idle air control valve...it's helped but still acts up when accelerating. It idles just fine but even just running at quarter throttle it will break up like it's not getting fuel properly.
Is it possible the cat converter has become clogged up? If it's been removed or gutted then obviously this isn't the problem, so look into fuel pressure or a misfire with the ignition system. Check codes too as that may hint at the source of the problem, a failing PIP module in the distributor or the TFI ignition module can also produce these symptoms and should set a code.
Tonight on my way home from work it wasn't carrying on like usual however it Is the coldest it's been in awhile. But when I shifted it acted like the throttle was sticking slightly and only for very short time I pulled the dipstick and there is definitely some gas in the oil pan like its getting too much fuel...fpr or something along those lines?
And yes sir both cats are gutted with older style glass packs turned backwards so basically dual straights all the way back makes for better bank disgnostics lol
