Possible hole in valve?

Hello all, new to this forum

First off the truck I just got from my dad is a 2000 f250 with the V10.
It currently has 298K on the clock and runs great minds I've thing.

About a year ago my dad had problems and he took it to some mechanic and they said that there was a hole in the valve because there's no compresion in that cylinder.
Are there any ways to check if that is true? He's been driving around on 9 cylinders since then cause the guy said it would be fine to unplug the injector.
Now that the truck is mine I really want to get it back to top shape. Are there any suggestions on what to do.

Run a compression test and an air hold , leak down test . Go from there with your findings .

With that many miles, the answer is; sure there could be a burned valve or damaged valve seat.
