Well I opened up the door and looked for any obvious wire breaks, disconnects or even rubbed coverings but found none.

So now I am wondering if there is any way to check the pink/yellow “Lock” signal wire from the passenger side switch without first running another wire through the boot between the door and the frame then up into amain harness up in the dash? This looks to be a big task for a maybe fix for the inconvenience that the door toggle does not lock.

Is there a way to test to confirm this is the problem before the rewiring? I guess I could splice the wire at the likely failure points like inside the boot between the door and the frame. Any other thoughts? Anyone else had this problem?

You can run a simple continuity check of the PK/YE wire on the passenger door switch to the same colored wire on the driver's side switch. If it measures an "open" circuit, the wire is busted somewhere in between.

you can then half-split the circuit by removing the kick panel on the passenger side, digging the PK/YE wire out of the bundle coming out of the door boot and, using an insulation-piercing probe, make continuity measurements again to the respective switches and see which direction has the open circuit. Continue the half-splitting technique as needed to isolate the faulty section of wire. Reseal any pierced insulation when done.

Troubleshooting electrical wiring faults isn't always easy, it's often a PITA but it's a necessary evil... or just ignore that particular fault and move on.

Thanks you have been a big help. I will make a try at the continuity test and isolating the problem after Thanksgiving.

Thanks for the info i am in the process of trouble shooting my locks. I was able to access the relay area you mention by pulling the lower dash below the radio off this gave me very easy access to the relays. I had to get to the turn signal relay anyways. I will post if relays fix my problem.
