So I picked up a 66 F250 from a storage yard lien sale. I paid $300 for the truck. It was a little beat but solid with the only rust in the nose of the hood. I thought it was a 390 in it and was debating on yanking it to install a 5.8 EFI with an AOD. It ran decent so I decided to hold on to the FE for a bit and just refresh the gaskets because it was covered with oil and sludge and I hate dirty engines. I pulled the intake and heads and measured the bore and stroke jist to know what I had. So it turns out it is a 67 428. That made me want to go a little further with the refresh. So here is what the plans are. Pretty basic bolt on upgrades.
1. Heads are C7AE-A. Rebuild with hardened seats and new guides and seals. Air manifold holes will be plugged.
2. Short block will be left alone for now with stock internals. It run good before I tore into it so no need to spend the money right now.
3. Edelbrock Streetmaster 390 single plane intake.
4. Holley 670 Street Avenger 4v carby.
5. Edelbrock high flow water pump.
6. Long tube headers, dual exhaust with an X pipe.
7. C6 trans will get new seals, filter and a shift kit.
8 Dana60 4:10 LS gets new seals.
Please feel to chime in and let me know how you think this combination of parts will do in my F250.
Thanks Bryyce62, I had read that article before I bought the Streetmaster. I had a choice between that and an F427 intake for the same price. I went with the single plane based on 2 factors. It seemed to get better reviews for overal performance as a bolt on intake but the other is I am eventually going to convert it it an EFI intake utilizing the EFI from a 1996 7.5L (460). A dual plane won't work for the conversion.
