Hey guys hope you can help. I have a 77 f100 sc sb 2wd. I'm not sure what numbers to go off and can someone decode it for me? First is the one off the door and the frame front of the frame are the same f10SLX88764 but there s one on the inside of the drivers door frame.( is that the warranty one) f10GCEG2431. Can anyone tell me anything about it thanks.
.. i believe there's something amidst with the warranty tag VIN ya posted.
Technically speaking, the frame stamp is the legal VIN. However, it all depends what state yer in... some check, some don't have the time to check, and some don't care.
Now just don't go confessing to the DMV/DOT.... Only tell them what they need to know.. nothing more.
Lemme clarify.. the warranty tag is on the door. It's a metal plate. The other one on the door jamb of the cab is a federal certification decal with a VIN.
It sounds to me as if someone swapped the cab but reused the driver's door which matches up to the frame. That's a good thing so long as your title matches the numbers.
The frame's consecutive unit number decodes as a late '77, right?
Ok thanks and marti is the only plate to see what my truck had for options and what not?
Yes, he has custody/ownership of the data.
.... and managed to get the machines which stamped the plates. His place of business is like a museum with all sorts of period correct equipment and dealership memorabilia... even an original Ford alignment rack IIRC. You'd swear ya stepped out of a time machine.
