2005 Expy stereo head unit question
If I replace my head unit will I still be able to control some functions from the steering wheel?
Can I control the XM sat radio from the head unit?
Will I still be able to control the stock rear DVD player from the new head unit
I think my amp and subwoofer are toast too and I have heard that I would need an aftermarket head unit to control aftermarket amp/subwoofer
thanks
As for needing a new head unit for an after market amp and sub, you don't really need one, but if you want it done properly you should. Here's why, most amps have two inputs, rca jacks for low (sub) levels and a wire pin connector for high (speakers) levels. Most after market radios are built with both wired outputs for speakers and rca output jacks for subs. Most, if not all, stock radios only have one output, strictley wires. So you would have to run your subs off of the high inputs on the amp in order to get everything working, just not exactly the way it should be working.
So find a good head unit that has external dvd controls or just dvd control options, the proper wiring harness, an amp wiring kit that's rated for your amps specs and youll be good to go.
Better yet, if your not that familiar with installing this stuff on your own, then it's best you leave it up to the professionals who can do all the figuring out for you and make sure everything works as it should. Down side to that of course is cost.
Hope this helps!!
