weird car engine

i know this is a truck site but i dont know who else to ask. A neighbor told me he has a 93 mustange with a inline engine but it has injectors on one side but spark plugs on both sides i havent seen it but i dont believe it can anyone tell anything about it?

Some 4 cyl's have 8 spark plugs. Maybe that's it.

Yep, just checked chilton's. The '93 2.3L engines are the 8 plug design.

They used the 8-plug design for some time after '93 as well; I just tuned up a '97 Ranger with the same engine. I'm still not sure how they do the timing on it; i.e. both plugs at the same time, or one right after the other. Each set of plugs has its own coil pack.
