2002 engine *rod hit the block*

I took out the engine ,
I found: holes in the oil pan (both sides)
small portion of the block (where the engine support is attached to the engine)
and the coolant running out trough one of the holes.
My question is if this engine can be rebuilt , I dont know if the small part of the block can be welded .
According the coolant leak , I presume the cylinder wall is broken.
I need your opinion : rebuilt or change?
anyway if somebody has a good engine or block just let me know
thanks a lot!

sounds to me that the block is garbage and you would not be able to use it as a core

Um, it's a 2002. It has powdered metal rods. Nuff sed. Probably has about 25K on it.

Ok, I'm being sarcastic. It is the fault of the PMRs though.

Here's a good place to get one.

http://www.shop.blackwidowdiesel.com/product.sc?categoryId=28&productId=161

$3850 long block (make sure to ixnay on the fire rings at the bottom).

Here's another:

http://www.dieselinnovations.com/di....cts&product=43

$3400 for a short block.

You now have a good boat anchor. That thing is useless for anything else at this point.

I have said this for years that PMRS are inconsistent and can not be trusted. I tell every customer I have this when they buy injs for a PMR motor. There has been some that can run Stage 3 injs and get away withi t with PMRs but they are playing with fire for sure, this would not be the first one to throw a rod with no mods.

I would help you out but I have no good cores at the moment to build for you.
