I am new to fords. I have an early 2004 6.0 4x4. On the hubs it says auto and lock. When I engage the 4x4 in auto it seems to barely work. When I set the hubs to lock it works great. I watch Dieseltechron youtube videos on the vacuum system and followed his instructions. It does not appear I have any leaks. When you set the hubs to "lock" are they suppose to work better or is something wrong with my truck?
The pump and tank are mounted on the pass side fender. could plug vacuum gauge into one of the plastic line and get a reading. probably not the pump though. other things would not be working correctly. like the heater controls.
yes, you can use compressed air to find out if the seals in the hub are leaking. put compressed air through the vacuum connection next to the abs wire on the hub. I wouldn't go much higher then 20psi. spray it down with soapy water and see where the bubbles are coming from.
might be the esof solenoid on the fender buy the vacuum pump. you should have vsacuum all the time at one port and when In 4x4 it lets vacuum go to the hubs
