The thing I'm sick of is every single morning...and I mean EVERY morning...when I get up for work I hear on the news that more American soldiers are dead. Is Bush going to wait around until two by two the Iraqis take out our military? I personally think we should either do what the above post said and wipe the country off the map, or pull out altogether and leave. The U.S. should not be "the world's 911".
I hate hearing of all the servicemen and women, American and coalition, that are losing their lives over there every day. I can only hope that in the end, it's worth it.
Many who were opposed to the war, myself included, warned of the mess, consequences, and financial burden that Iraq would be once the "war" was over.
The war is over as far as the US is concerned, but it will NEVER be over for the muslims that oppose an American presence in Iraq.
Come on fellas, someone out there's gotta wanna hang me up by my toenails... these discussions aren't fun if you guys on the right don't play along!! I know it's only a matter of time...

Try to take the news in perspective. They are military men doing what they do best. Only a coward shoots a person in the back, take pride in the fact that we always take the upperhand.
I too wake up and hear about another person shot to death overnight for days and days on end. It sickens me too, but I'm just glad it's going on downtown Charleston, SC and not out here in the suburbs. The big cities must be worse.
How come no one is excited about that? (Blacks killing Blacks?)Do you know how the numbers stack up between Iraqi war deaths and people killed on the highways during the same period of time because of alcohol?
I hate hearing that our soldiers are being killed too. But I support the war. I feel that someone had to help the Iraqis and I'm proud the U.S. is helping, its just to bad the U.N. wouldnt do it. It would have been much easier and not cost us near as much. If I lived in Iraq I would want someone to help free me from those crazy bast@rds. latr
97Ranger's reply equating domestic murders to losses in Iraq, is interesting but off point. When I took my first course on statistics, we were required to read a book called HOW TO LIE WITH STATISTICS and that was one of the ploys mentioned. I believe that Rushmo made a similar effort in one of his rants.

How can the murder of Americans be off point. Both cases are dead, both victims are American, both are going down about one a day, and I'm only talking about one small city compared to a country at war. As I said, you have to put it into perspective. I remember during the war of 1991, we had people die of heart attacks and auto accidents before the first shot was fired. If you put a half million people in one pile (1991 forces) someone will die of something without any help.
We have had Brit planes crach and US helocopters crash raising the numbers. In all, the Iraqi are not very good fighters unless you consider a suicide bomber a fight. Even then, we are way ahead.
Lemme get this straight. No one wants americans killed. And at the rate of about one a day, that means we should get out of Iraq. The people of Iraq surly don't want us there. So why are we? I understand that you cant just outst a leader thats been around for 15 or 20 years and let the next guy in line take over, and you want stability, but how long does it take? I'm not over there, and I don't have all of the information, but shouldn't they be getting some where? I only get local news coverage on the country cable, and I'm too busy to stay on the net to look at the news because I am stuck here at FTE, but before I moved out to the sticks (3 weeks ago), i still heard little in terms of steps being taken to get the US out of there.
To be very clear, I did not mean to call any one a liar and I am sorry if it was taken that way. I referred to a book which details the way statistics can be used to support almost any argument - I had nothing to do with the title of the book. To use another statistical ploy, 100% of those interviewed (myself) still disagrees.

I'm pretty sure the Germans and the Japanesse (sp?) didn't want us on their turf after WWII.
Yes, I know that we are still there, but lets look at it this way, we learned a valuable lesson after WWI.
Had we occupied Germany after WW1 like we did after WWII, Hitler would prolly never made it to power, and Pearl Harbor may not have been struck without German backing.
My, how different the world would be, huh?
But that's wishful hind sight.
We are going to be there a while, unfortunately, and yes my tax $$ is going there and I know it. But I know my money is going for a good cause, instead of being watsed on some pointless gov't program, therefore I don't have a problem with it.
I hate to say this, but I honestly cannot understand why we waited this long to address the problem we are currently addressing.
I know what you are saying, super ranger, that is what I ment(not sure if you are agreeing or not). That is EXACTLY what I mean. If we put someone in charge that we agree with, and keep an eye on them (as we do in japan and germany), where is the problem?
And hey, dosent Cuba need liberating? I mean, I feel alot more threatened by Castro, mostly because he is about 250 miles from my front door. And there are people desperate enough to drive chebby trucks, yes i said chebbies to escape his oppresive regime.
Well when they hit land they were going to make a quick get away. Wonder how much gas they had?
Does anyone here think we shouldnt have gone to war and freed the Iraqis?I feel that that is a good enough reason. latr
