truly if your gonna do it i would go with 2.5 the whole way and have small diameter stack out of the bed, and insted of hooking the stacks up via a box thing( dunno ive seen it) i would go glass pack under the cab and rout the actual pipe out of the bed.
Personally I would not put stacks on a gasser unless it's a fLareside so it ain't Taking up bed space but it's your truck so what you want.. just think u are gonna lose bed space cause nothing really can be pressed up against them.
But if it were me doing this I would get some headers and if you can get away with straight pipes up to the stacks I'd do that. But if not I'd go for dual glasspacks under the cab and then have DUAL stacks.
I have to say 1 stack looks very dumb and will look even dumber on a gasser probably. Around here its a dodge thing with the whole 1 stack. Good luck though
Every diesel pickup has some trash can sized pipes sticking out of the bed these days.
I had them on my 70 F100 back in the mid 80's. Back when it was still unique and the only truck that came with them was the Lil Red Express. Ya, a gasser. Dodge did also put a single stack on their early diesel pickup. Even had a chrome emblem on the pipe that said "diesel". Can't recall what year that was? Only saw a few around back then, had to be late 70's early 80's.
The only time stacks on a gasser makes sense is for a strictly off-road machine like a rock crawler or a mud bogger. But putting them on a street driven truck is just asking for unwanted attention and tickets. They drone in the cab like crazy, take up cargo space in the box, and did I mention they scream "Please give me a ticket".
As a matter of fact, I feel the same about stacks on a diesel pick-up.

How can a legal exhaust scream give me a ticket? If it is quiet and exhausts beyond the rearmost cab opening I would accept the ticket then own the cop in court. My lawyer loves spending my money to put cops in their place.

Straight pipe stacks= loud. Louder that what's legal = ticket
Maybe where you are at. Cop gives me a loud exhaust ticket without a db meter in his hand, I hope he likes a toungelashing from the da. I also like the *** umption that stacks have to be unmuffled straight pipes. A set of muffled side pipes turned on end work brilliantly as gasser stacks....and meet noise restrictions.

Down here in hicktown it's under the cops descretion as to how loud it is and what's a legal "loudness"... most stacks around here are straight piped so assuming that's what he would do. But if you're going to run quiet stacks what's really the point in that?

No it is not, but keep believing that. And keep paying tickets. I am 100% sure there is a db level that is beyond legal limits. If the cop does not clarify how in excess of the law you are.....how can he quantify the charge? "Judge, he was speeding...I don't know how fash he was going but he was speeding"....see how confusing that would be? If you accept the ticket it is your right to know what you are being charged with and the level of offense. "At officer discretion" is cop speak for revenue generation And fast promotion.

I meant it is under his descretion to pull u over for it. Yes there is a db limit but I'm not sure what it is or how any of that works but I know a cop can pull u over if he or she "thinks" it's to loud. I'm sure u can fight that in court and probably even get out of it when ur pulled over

Typically there isn't a db limit. Most laws are a variation on "modifying exhaust to make it louder than stock is illegal".
Either way stacks on a pick-up, especially a gasser, is hilarious and makes you look like a douche.
