Your thoughts and input.

Ok, it's finally time for build up of the old girls 7.5 liter efi. I have the trucks heart out and on the stand. completely torn down and inspected all aspects. Found that the oil pump mounting bolts worked loose and it's gasket in the pickup tube. Machinist checked the crank and block out found the block to still be in perfect condition and not in need of a boring job. The crank was 1 to 2 thousands under sized. It needs a 10/10 turn. So then blocks cleaned up honed up and crank turned. Had heads redone and cleaned. Now comes the questions. I'm staying with the same factory pistons, what rings to run? The cam I'm going to replace altogether, comp said I can run their custom ground .517/.540 with a 114 lsa on the SD system along with matching lifters and springs. Around 348 or so. So what's your input about doing this. The heads have been milled 30 thousandths and I plan on ccing them later today. Sorry this post is so long.thanks for any input.

I would be more concerned about porting the heads

Already started porting of the heads and doing the intake next since it's a little restrictive, as well as the upper intake elbow. Not going to do to much on the intake runner side as I am the exhaust side. Already have the combustion Chamber cleaned. and polished up nicely

I agree with Brad,

Seems like the key on the 460's is the heads. Some good port work and a solid build on the bottom end and a set of long tube headers and you will have plenty of power for a long long time.

Sounds like you got a good start. Good luck, keep us posted.

Well the build is now full on. Heads ported and polished up. Valve size changed up to 2.11in and 1.76 exh. Intake has been stripped down cleaned up and ported. Ditched the D9 block for the dove a 4 bolt block 30 over zero decked with a fresh set of h612cp slugs. Custom grind efi SD friendly cam lifters and springs with retainers from mad porter. Arp on top and bottom as well as rods. All rotating assembly balanced. New headers adjustable fuel pressure regulator and sfi balancer. A couple more odds and ends then I'm ready to yank stumps without cutting the tree down.
