Hey everyone. I'm looking to make some changes to the suspension on my '08 450. The stock springs do great with just my camper, but bottom out when I add my trailer. My camper is 4500lbs loaded and my trailer is usually pushing 10-12k. I've just recently added the stable loads from tork lift that really helped engage the overloads quicker. I've also added airbags, but those make the truck tippy in the corners as the suspension reacts to side to side motion.
So, I'm thinking about removing some of the top block in the back springs and adding another overload spring or two. This shouldn't deteriorate the empty ride, but will increase the load capability of the truck. It should also solve the side to side motion as the spring will better handle the weight. I've been researching this and I don't see that anyone has done this. The theory should work, but I'm having a hard time locations parts. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
I like this better than the spring boosters and other products That just help your springs hold more weight.
