I have a 2006 F250 super duty that i use as a welding rig. My welding machine alone weighs 1200lbs roughly im carrying around almost 3000 pounds. the rear is sagging from all the weight. i am looking to beef up my suspension to be able to support the weight i'm carrying around on a consistent basis. can someone tell me the first steps to take in order to beef up my suspension in order to support the weight?
I think air bags would be your best bet. And really no need for an onboard compressor since your hauling that full time. Just run you a line to the back bumper. You've got the option of spring helpers and add a leafs.
You should have a 4/1 (5 leaf) with a possible top over load spring. Take a look to see how all the leafs look. Any broken ones? In my opinion it's never a good idea to use bags or any type of supplement suspension on broken springs or really worn out springs, you would want to fix the problem and then add those other options after.
Depending on a few other variables we would have a few spring options available for the truck. All options would be heavier then your current setup but it just depends on how heavy you would want to go.
i tried air bags in my gas f 250 for a while and hated it. when inflated enough to lift the back a little, the truck rode like a hay wagon. it regularly threw the safety chains off my trailer etc.
