beefing up my suspension

Need HELP!

I have a 2006 F250 super duty that i use as a welding rig. My welding machine alone weighs 1200lbs roughly im carrying around almost 3000 pounds. the rear is sagging from all the weight. i am looking to beef up my suspension to be able to support the weight i'm carrying around on a consistent basis. can someone tell me the first steps to take in order to beef up my suspension in order to support the weight?

If it has slowly sagged over the years, I'd say just replace the leaf spring packs. Maybe some have even cracked?

I think air bags would be your best bet. And really no need for an onboard compressor since your hauling that full time. Just run you a line to the back bumper. You've got the option of spring helpers and add a leafs.

You should have a 4/1 (5 leaf) with a possible top over load spring. Take a look to see how all the leafs look. Any broken ones? In my opinion it's never a good idea to use bags or any type of supplement suspension on broken springs or really worn out springs, you would want to fix the problem and then add those other options after.

Depending on a few other variables we would have a few spring options available for the truck. All options would be heavier then your current setup but it just depends on how heavy you would want to go.

i tried air bags in my gas f 250 for a while and hated it. when inflated enough to lift the back a little, the truck rode like a hay wagon. it regularly threw the safety chains off my trailer etc.

finally scrapped that and put in an added leaf

I would use timbrens. IMO. They work great for me and I carry 5k of sand all winter.

I need to ask.. what is the payload ability of your truck?????

sounds like you are over...by a fair amount.

being a 2006. and 10 years old.. springs are shot, even if NOT cracked or broken.

I have a 12 "XL" 2 wheel drive. able to carry the most of the 250 SD's. and 3k is max with trailer and Camper spring packages.

new springs and add a spring... a truck spring shop can do this.

but remember the springs are not the biggest issue with weight.. its the tires and rear axle and its housing. then the Frame.
