not as many as you think... some have been impaled on objects... some have odd seizures... one of the episodes a guy went into a coma in the mids of sex... things like that...
yup... sometimes its falling on a table and shards of glass being impaling on... one guy fell from a tree and had a deep cut through an artery in his leg.. ect ect... serious accidents but sometimes funny results...
theres another show that comes on before it called Untold Stories of the ER... real life incidents that tested the dr's ability to solve them.. one of the stories on there made me rethink if i wanted to go sky diving...
sometimes not in a good way... the one that made me rethink it was where these people were doing tandem jumps (from what ive heard you do that with an instructor a few times before being allowed to do it on your own)... the shute opened like it should and everything.. but as they were coming down the instructor noticed they were going to miss the target.. apparently he was unable to avoid disaster as well..
Him and the student landed on one of those wire fences meant for animal control where you can attach multiple levels of wire.. ended up impaling both of them on one of the serrated support poles.. the student got lucky as it only went through the skin meat and the vital organs were shoved to one side.. they were able to do minor surgery to remove her from the pole.. The instructor wasnt as lucky as it went through him much deeper.. in through his abdomen and exiting dangerously close to his spine... They got it out of course and he recovered.. but just made me kinda not as enthused to want to do it...
they had another story a few weeks later about a 10 year skydiving vet that also had issues when he jumped.. pulled the cord and somehow when the shute was coming out of the pack the cords got wrapped around his neck.. shute opened up before he had time to react and essentially hung him in the air as he fell to the ground.. he lived as well.. but later near the end of the show they said he was extremely lucky as the force of the shute opening and sudden extreme deceleration has enough energy that could have actually have snapped his neck.
