temp wire no voltage

temp wire no voltage

Hey guys I have an 86 f 150 with a straight six I'm trying to get the temp gauge to work but there's now power on the wire has anyone had this problem and no what it could be...thanks a lot for any help.....

the temp wire to the sender? sender grounds out .no voltage

If you ground the wire that plugs on the sender, the guage should peg.

I thought that would be like the fuel gauge and have 5 volts .........so it's just a ground........Is it a blue wire or green......not really sure on the color.....thanks guys...

It should have 5-6 volts on the wire that connects to the sender if it is hanging loose.

It is either red/white-stripe or white/red-stripe and operates the same as the oil pressure.

There is a separate sensor on the radiator hose neck that has two wires, this sensor is used exclusively by the computer and has nothing to do with the dash gauge.
