Where is the sending unit for the temp gauge on a 86 F150 w/ the 300?

On mine it is right in the back of the engine on the passenger side.

There should be one lone wire going up the back of the engine, from around the oil pressure sender. If you follor the wire, it should lead you to the sender.

Color of wire: Red/white

It's not very easy to get to, at all!

----

To check the guage, ground out the Red/white wire for a moment, while a buddy in the cab looks at the guage. The guage should peg. If it doesn't then it's probably a broken wire, or a defective guage.

If it does peg, then it's probably a bad sending unit.

Hope this helps

Yes it sure does... It must be the wire that I pinched inbetween the trans and engine block. Thanks

That's the temp sender wire alright. Goes right up around where the tranny and engine meet.

It's probably also your problem if you crushed it.

Good luck.
