Squeaky Transfer Case
I have a 97 F-150 that squeaks when backing up. It squeaks a little bit when going forward but isn't as noticeable. The sound seems to be coming from the transfer case. I am wondering what the source of the squeak might be.

Squeaky Transfer Case
the first thing I would check would be the U-joints, they usually squeak when the are starting to go bad.

Squeaky Transfer Case
I had the same squeak. Changed the rear u-joint and the nosie went away. Now if I could get the front brakes to be quiet, and the catalytic converter to stop rattling...
