Who makes the best quality Hood Hinges and any experiences you may have had? I've seen different companies selling them but first hand info is best. I am not interested in rebuilt ones.
Thanks in advance.
I know you dont want "rebuilt" hinges but this company will rebuild YOUR hinges. I've had 2 friends who used them and they say the hinges are better than any aftermarket hinges thay looked at.

Suggest compare prices between sending off for repair to buying either. Purchased hinge from Obsolete Classic Parts out of Ok., I did not inquire whether item is remanufactured, appears to be of good quality and installed w/out any problem. Hinge ran approx. $70 plus S.H. Imagine majority Ford part supplier's obtain parts from same source??
Dave, this is the way I went also. Had a long talk with the owner. Said he hasn't had but a couple complaints and he has sold hundreds of them for all makes and models over the years. Said if I wasn't happy, just give him a call.
Never checked into a 'turn around' period, or if there was an exchange policy, but I needed a quick fix because the hinge separated from the mounting bracket and I did not want to risk by driving the truck. Shopped online and found Obsolete/Classic was the only supplier who, at the time, had the item in stock so within 3 days the hinge was installed and I was back on the road.
I bought a set of repop hinges and in my opinion they are crap. Had to wollow out holes to make them adjustable enough and had to shim them in the back. I am very unhappy with them especially now I know they allowed the hood to move around after I had them working pretty good that one time I opened the hood and it hit the cowl and chipped my paint. I searched and searched and found a set of NOS Ford hinges for 20 dollars a piece more than I paid for the repops. The Ford dealer was happy to get rid of them and I was happy to get them. The repops are going to become boat anchors. Oh and the springs on the repops are crap also they will barely hold the hood up
So, did those of you that were not happy with your 'repoped' hood hinges, get them from Obsolete Classic Parts or someone else?
I realize that in some cases, parts can sometimes come from one supplier, BUT sometimes not..
Thoughts?
I was going to get them from DC but they were out. I got them from Mac's. I don't know if all hinges come from the same supplier. I don't know how someone would even find that out. I do know if I would have been unable to find NOS I would have sent mine in for reman. I spoke to one company and the owner sounded very knowledgeable and explained the hinge in detail on the 61 to 66 right down to the rectangle rivots.
Well, I went ahead and ordered the new ( repoped - geeze, I hate that word) ones. Lets just hope they check out ok. If not, I'll try to have the old ones rebuilt. The guy did tell me they are made to OEM specs and the metal is pretty good. We shall see.
Wish me luck.
NOW, if someone will give a little info on my 'door hinge pin question' ;o)
Thanks for your answers guys.

So.....we haven't heard from ya in a while, TMR....I hope all is well with you.
How did the repoped hinges turn out?
Were you happy with them?
Any issues?
Barnie, sorry I haven't posted. As of late, I've been very busy and have really only kepted in tough with a limited few friends. After carring for clients every day, I come home actually mentally drained. But my clients need my help and I don't see my retiremant coming anytime soon.
I have not had the chance to install the hinges to see if indeed they function as the should.
I just got back from a mental health conference in Colorado and hope to try them out in the next week or so. Just need the "Time To Play"...
It's not necessary to apologize for not being able to play with your truck; we all get busy with the demanding and many times fatiguing toils of living a life now and then. Whoever said it was easy must of had someone helping them through it. We all need to let up from the harness from time to time too.... I hope you soon get a break to "play" some. It does a body good......meanwhile, know that you were missed here....and be safe out there.
Good info in this thread, just wondering if anything new has come up. I just purchased some am hood hinges from the Truck Shop in Orange Ca that were made in Argentina that did not fit correct. Before I try rebuilding the original hinges, just wonder if anyone has any new or updated info, Thanks!
