Hey guys. I'm working on a 1979 F100 Ranger standard cab with the long bed. I'm excited about this for a number of reasons but mostly because its been in the family since new and my fiancée is wrenching right along side me. Here is the build as I want it to be.
1. stroked and poked 351W (EFI 408)
2. TKO 5 speed
3. 9" rear with 3.73 and trac-loc
4. lower the truck with the crown vic swap
5. DRIVE THE HELL OUT OF IT!!!!!
TKO?! Been there, done that. Mine is behind a brawny FE with EFI.
You'll need a 31-spline output-yoked coupling shaft from a C6-equipped longbed. It should fit... mine fit perfectly. The trans mount only needed to be move back by one inch. I'm also running dual exhaust which necessitated (to me) customizing the trans crossmember to clear the 2.5-inch exhaust tubing.
Sorry guys. Looks like this project will be put on the back burner for now. Just found out my 2000 F150 is in dire need of some loving. I will be continuing the project soon. Now to put those pics up!!!!!
