Red Battery Light?
My red battery light comes on at 2500 RPM's and above- I've seen the opposite on other vehicles before, where the belt was slipping at lower RPM's- Does this mean there is undue resistance in the belt path somewhere? Any idea if it is a loose belt or the alternator? It's has been very very cold here lately, but if it were the battery I would expect the light to be on at lower RPM's. Any ideas?

Generally the Red battery light will come on if there is a problem with the Alternator Not Charging.
The Cold weather could be having some affects with the Diodes inside the Alternator.
Do you have belts or Serpentine Belt???

Right at the battery should work fine. If you can get to the back of the alternator, it will be more accurate. Some of the chain auto parts stores will test your alternator on the car for free.
