I just picked up a used Holley 2300 7448 350 CFM 2BBL carb to replace my stock carb. I have a couple questions I am hoping someone can assist me with.
First, the fuel inlet fitting, inlet fitting gasket, fuel filter spring, fuel filter gasket, and fuel filter (all from the Holley Diagram on the Holley website) are missing. Do I need these or does some aftermarket or Ford fuel filter replace all of these items?
Second, is there a plug that goes on the opposite side of the fuel inlet fitting? Seems like there is a hole that could leak fuel.
Lastly, this Holley carb has the manual choke and looks like the "plunger spring" is either broken or detached. Can someone assist with a pic on how this is supposed to be hooked up? I can't get the Choke Plate to move at all.
I have attached a few pics on my photo album entitled "Holley 2400 7448 Questions"
While it looks like there are two fuel inlets, only one is plumbed. No worries there. The filter is kind of a coarse sintered copper deal. Still would need an inline filter, I'd think,
As a matter of fact, yes. Ford Motorcraft D30Z9155B (fg19c) will screw right in the bowl. 5/16" hose nipple.
It has been years since I played with a manual choke. As I recall if something's not in the right spot when the 3 mounting screws are tightened it jambs up. loosen those 3 screw and see if the choke frees up.
I would call holley support the were very helpful when I had questions,1-866-464-6553. I use to have a 2bbl list#7508-1 350 cfm and I would buy holley part #3-888 rebiult kit, also some of the old 2300 have a reverse idle system for fuel/air mixture.Look at page 4 at special instructions. http://documents.holley.com/199r8338rev1.pdf
