I see many trucks like this and wondered are the bushings in the bed mounts known to dry rot and break down making your bed crooked. Mine is slightly crooked and it just crossed my mind. I see so many trucks from the late eighties ato nineties truck beds like this. Is it an easy fix?

My 1992 F150 Ford Shop Manual says that the bed can be shimmed on the low side if the low side is more than one quarter inch. If less than one quarter inch--it cant be shimmed.
You need to look at the character lines of the cab and bed and see if the bed is higher or lower than the cab. And after shimming-you want to make sure that the character lines line up.This is especially important if the pickup has two tone paint. And make sure that the bed doesnt stick out or on more than the cab. And make sure that the cab and bed are level to the bumpers and the ground.
It is rare to see a pickup truck that does have the character lines lined up perfectly!! Most pickups will have the bed too high or too low or in or out in relation to the cab.I try not to notice this-it is normal factory mass production imprecision.
There are no rubber bushings for the bed-but there is for the cab and front clip. It is possible that the cab/front clip bushings need to be replaced.
I had a telephone company owned 4x4 Ford Ranger that was crooked from the factory. It was only one year old and the bumpers were horizonal to the ground-but the cab and the bed was more than one inch down on the same side! The dealer-after laughing -- shimmed both the cab and the bed with metal shims-and it was then perfect.
well thats good to know. Its only little crooked and yes mine does have two tone paint and you can see its slightly off on one side prob not even a half inch though. Thanks for the information it makes me feel better about it
Most came with shims under the front two bed mounting bolts from the factory--I know all 3 of the trucks I have came with them. The F150 I just restored had two on one side and one on the other. The F250 I did last winter had two on one side and none on the other.
