Well, I'm bored because I cant work on anything in this weather. I was searching the web and came across this video. I thought it was neat, and there are more on his channel just like it.
impressive or foolish.up to the viewer i suppose.the f-super duty w/ 5.13's isn't even rated for that much.if he had an egt gauge while rolling coal like that he wouldn't push it so hard.

Impressively foolish maybe? There was another video where his gcw was 37000lbs. I just think it's neat that an old 180hp engine can keep up, and I use that term loosely, with modern engines. Now how quickly would he end up in the ditch or in the back end of another car in an emergency situation? I won't comment on. I definitely agree on the egt gauge. When he was driving up that hill he should have let up, or left it in second.
Yeah, they went by him pretty fast. When I see videos like this all I can think of is how effecient trucks could be if the big three weren't all in an arms race.
yeah it's gotten ridiculous.you've pretty much got to be in retirement sitting on like 2.5 million or something to be able to afford (most people today mistake "afford" with "being able to buy" lol) a 60-70k truck then properly maintain it and it's repairs.efficiency isn't much of a concern if your shelling out that kind of coin for something that depreciates like a waterfall.

I think this is why people are using their $1500 trucks to pull these mega loads, even though an older solid medium duty could be found for relatively cheap.
Like I said, I'm not condoning overloading a truck, but if you can upgrade your brakes - hydroboost, etc...- and improve the overall handling to the point where you can stop and maneuver the load better than a transport truck, then there are more dangerous things on the road. The driver just has to have the skill to manage the load. I won't comment on laws because North America cannot come up with a consistent set.
