I was looking at my donor I Beam/spindle assemblies (from a 79 F150 2wd) and noticed that on of the I Beams has a distinctive bow in it. Not an "up-down" bow in the vertical direction but a fore-aft bow. It appears to have been made that way. So...I was wondering if I have a trashed I Beam or is that normal?
I was thinking, it could be that way in order to keep the RH and LH spindles in line with each other. The way the Beams overlap each other, if they were both straight, it would seem to cause one wheel to be slightly fore or aft of the wheel on the other side of the truck.
Thought I'd toss that out there. If need be, I can snap a pic tomorrow and post it.
IIRC,,, I think they do have a slight "bow" to clear each other as they pass,,,but alas, I could be wrong, been a while since I have had any laying on the ground.
