Radiator vs dealer
I have been reading past threads about warranties on radiators, but not sure of the facts,...
SO let me tell the story.... I 2011 I bought a used 08 with 25k miles on it. it still had a few months of the original manufacture warranty. I notice a leak, they said it was the radiator but didn't have anyone to work on it at that time, to bring it back later. I brought it back about a week later, they said sorry warranty expired 3 days ago... They did attempt to make it right, they took the radiator out and had it repaired. THis worked for a while, but now is leaking again.
I have just been keeping it filled best I can cause I dont have the cash right now for a new radiator ( and I suppose, thermostat)
I have read that these are now being covered. Is this correct?
I would really like to get this fixed, but they want almost 2 k to do it.
Would I be better off buyiing an aftermarket radiator and thermostat and doing it my self?
Thanks for the help

I don't want to spend 2k only to have another leak in a few months.
Looking around on the forum, it looks like there have been thousands of issues with these radiators, and ford has not done a lot about it.
Time to trade it in?
- change belts and pulleys if they are due
- change thermostats if you have the originals
- radiator hoses if your using the originals
- pull water pump and inspect for cavitation
Refill with coolant, purge air and look for leaks. Then I think your good to go.
The 6.4 is a fine engine but you have to look for TSBs and maintain it as best as you can. Regards, -FB
