Door Open Indicator On

Are there little micro-switches in each door that signal the open door dash light? What is the best way to get to them, pull inside door panel?

Thanks in advance!

If you have either remote keyless entry or theft alert (VSS) and you remove them, the vehicle won't start.

They are a PIA. 03 and 04 were the worst!

The only "fix" is to either replace them or lubricate them via the lock mechanism with something like an aerosol which will get into the cracks and crevasses.

I have read that the WD40 trick works a lot of the times.

The switch really isn't that hard to get to, watch YouTube on how to remove the door panel, then the switch is is by the latch that locks the door to the cab. 2 screws if I remember right, and a large in the door panel to get your arm in there.

I just installed the amp research electric steps and I had to access the wires from the drivers door latch.

We luckily found the passenger door is the culprit. We scared it into working again. Going to spray it anyway, and see how long our luck holds out. Is it a micro-switch? Because switches either work or don't work. So it is either wiring corrosion or wear or the mechanism that engages the switch.

Remove the screws on the door that you can see, and the door panel just lifts off.

I think I will just take it apart and investigate it. Thanks to video below I know what kind of switch I am dealing with. I can also clean and properly lubricate the entire latch assembly.

Thank you for all the responses!
