Well went and picked up a repro bumper and bracket for my Flareside... And am having an issue mounting the bracket to the frame...Previous owner brought it with a flat bed and replaced it with a 63 Chevy stepside... ( it doesn't look bad).looks like only the big bolt hole lines up... What am I missing.. I would think there has to be something to keep it from pivoting...
thoughts opinions...Pictures...thanks in advance..
Bracket looks correct..only thing I'm concerned about is each bracket is made out of two pieces .(4 total). Joined together with a large rivets .. Best place for for the other bolt is where the rivet is.. Should I drill the rivet out?..
If anyone had a pic it would be very helpful...
Let me try and describe the bracket...
At very rear of bracket where It bolts to frame there is a 1/2 hole... Then moving further down the bracket..there is the rivet ( discussed above...) then where bracket exits frame rails and turns down there is a smaller hole ( don't have a clue why it's there).. Then the brackets go left and right to accommodate bumper...
John..Drilling another whole would do it... But the issue is the brackets are almost 1/2" thick...
I took a good look at it today.. Looks like PO had welded a hitch to it and at some point someone took a torch and cut it off.. What was left was Blocking the alignment.. Picked up some colbalt bits and grade8 bolts and drilled the bolted her in... She's solid on there now..
