I have been having the super high/low voltage issue with my alternator and finally had a chance to dig into it today. Looking up the info on AllData Pro, they show a 3 wire connection and a 2 wire connection...
I have two wires at the alternator. i will be honest, electrical components and I are not friends... I see some pretty bad corrosion at the "plug" side on pin 1. I have a donor truck in mind that i may be able to get a new plug from and wire it in.
I have seen that the issue is usually caused by a broken wire, but where is ti usually broken? it goes from loom to loom and I don't want to tear into it all if I don't have to.
