I have a 99 F250 that does not have a manufacture sticker in the door frame. It must have come off sometime during it's life. Anyway how do you tell the difference between a pre March 99 and a post March 99? When ever I look at lift kits, the first thing they want to know is the manufacture date.
I think the track bar got beefier after the 3/99 date. Its probably not worth making a kit for such a limited run of trucks. Im pretty sure this is the only difference. You should investigate further but I believe a trip to the bone yard and you could aquire a post 3/99 bracket and hardware. You should investigate further don't take my word for it as gospel.
I don't know if you are talking about a gas or a diesel truck so this is all for a diesel 99 truck. Something else to look at on the 7.3 99's is where the powerstroke emblem is. If it is on the fender behind the headlights it is for sure a E99. You have to be careful on the reroute of the air cleaner. My E99 7.3 has a late 99 air filter housing and tube. I guess there was an issue with these air boxes and the dealer would install a new airbox in the trucks when and if you brought them in for work. My guess is you could also call the dealer and give them your VIN and they could get a build date off of it. -Jason
The dealer needs the last 8 of your VIN and they can tell you everything, most will do it over the phone for free. 3/99 was the cut off after that you have a late 99, before than you heave the early, do you have the glass square headlights? thats early, if you have the plastic areodynamic it's post. there are other differances as well, besides the thin track bar, air filter, some have catalytic converters, some dont have the IAH, but generally everything else is the same.

Myth busted. My truck has a build date of 10/98 and the emblems are on the door.
OP, you should be able to find the build date on the engine. My early 99 has a shackle lift up front only and I can easily fit 35's. How high are you planning on going?

I'm sorry I didn't state it clearly. Some E99's had the emblem on the door, but no late 99's have the emblem on the fender. I have seen E99's with emblems on the door too. Mine has a build date of 7/98 it is a F250 XLT with the plastic areo headlights and it has the emblem on the fender. If I recall there was a cut off when they switched to the door mounted emblem but I can't find where I read it.
Having a e99 is a pain in the rump until you figure it out that you in fact have one. I found that out when I tried to put front rotors on my truck and they make 2 different sizes.
Now I have a question, I have read that the E99's have forged connecting rods in the 7.3's and the later ones don't. Is that true? -Jason
My 99 was built in 3-98
I ordered a headlight switch for a 99 and it had a rounded over bezel
Early 99's have a rectangular bezel. I could be wrong though

The real early one's had the glass headlights mine was 3/98 and I had the square glass lights, I dont know when they made the switch to plastic I figured it was 4/98, Why do they do things like this. UUUGGGHHH
My 2000 has glass headlights, wasnt a simple year transition into aero lights. Just more like rare as heck, lol. Mustve been like an aero headlight delete option.
Glass headlights those are the sealed beam xl headlights? I was looking at one the other day that was a 3/98 build date and it had the early style areo headlights with the soild amer parking light and the emblem in the door.
