Don't just put heavier cheap *** oil in, it won't help. All oils have a "burn rating" it's not listed on the bottles. The cheaper oils will burn out a lot faster than the higher quality more expensive oils.
Your not running a semi or full synthetic though. If I where you, I'd spend the little $ on a new PCV valve, change to a good semi or full synthetic in a 5w30 or 10w30, and see what happens.

It's not like I dumped in a jug of "I can't believe it's not butter" or some lard or something. I'm still using an API certified SM oil.
You gotta admit, 5 quarts in 2500 miles is a lot, even for a cheap oil.
