So Just yesterday My "lovely" truck introduced to me one of the most annoying problems around. I will be driving down the road, and the "door ajar" light on my cluster will turn on (along with the cab light) and the door alarm sound will beep. Then it will simply turn off..then back on again. every where I go...on off on off on off. So annoying! I have read almost every thread about this similar problem i could find, but non consisted of the same problem...ALSO i can hear a "click" when the alarm/light comes on, and it sounds like its coming from the back of my fuse panel....PLEASE help!
and yes i have tried spraying every latch with wd-40
My 99 F250 extra cab does the same thing. Exact same sounds and everything. I'm about 99% sure it's the electrical switch in the latch mechanism and wd40 won't help electrical connections. I used a whole can of electric motor contact cleaner and it only seems to help for a while. I just went 4 months and no issues, then I washed the the truck Saturday and have had issues again every day since. Mine doesn't do it all the time every day so until I get completely pissed enough to go buy new latches I'll deal with it. My 96 ranger did the same thing till I changed the latches.
If the high colonic of WD40 didn't fix it, you'll need to determine WHICH door latch switch is causing the problem and replace it. Getting to the switch is a PITA, so be prepared for skinned knuckles and the invention of new cuss words.
