my ranger is a 2003 and i am having problem with the door ajar light and the beep that follows it. whenever i open my passenger door and close it again the light flashes and beeps and will not stop for about 10 minutes even though both doors are completely shut. the cab overhead light also stays on while this happens. is this an electrical problem? how can i fix this?

 

The switch in the door, which is part of the latch mechanism, tends to be troublesome. A lot of people, me included, have had good luck spraying WD-40 on the latch to lubricate the switch. It's cheap and easy, so give it a shot (pun, such as it is, intended).

 

It's very common. It happens to me all the time. I spray some WD-40 and it works well for a while.

 

This has also been an issue with every Ford I have ever owned. Just wanted to confirm that the WD-40 trick works.

Yeah i had the same thing with my 98 ranger i used some Howes Firearm lube spray(heavy duty) and havent had a problem ever again.
