cool thanks, if you want headers for that truck you should look for shortys or mid lenght but they do tend to get expensive as i hear, for your application shortys would probably be your best bet or stock cast iron headers
Thanks man, I'll look into it when I get all my other issues fixed. Relaiability, comfort and appearance take priority as the little woman drives the truck now and will even more once I get my Jag back on the road.
Not to resurrect a dead thread, but I know for a fact that Hedman Elites (Part# 89810) will fit on a 390 in a 1973 F250 2WD Camper Special. They ride above the crossmember and sway bar. I had to do some trimming on the edges of the crossmember to clear the collector flanges, and used a copper angle to get the starter lug to clear the passenger side header. Behind the headers I had the muffler shop route both pipes to the passenger side, through a pair of Walker turbo mufflers (bodies aligned vertically) and out the side in front of the right rear wheel.
i ran the flowtech header on my 76 it puts alot of heat on the starter i am four wheel drive i went msd when i did the headers and the msd distributour she really woke up also did duals with glass packs had to relocate the fuel line on top of the trans the guy that did my exhaust did a bad job crammed it all in next to the transfercase and drive shaft and fuel line but in the end it sounded good
When I bought my truck it had the most ghetto duals I've ever seen - the left side went under the frame rail, then back along the outside of the frame right next to the manual fuel tank selector valve. Probably part of my vapor lock problem. Ditched that for a stock y-pipe and a single welded body Thrush muffler until I did a top end freshening on the engine. I have a new standard size starter, so I wrapped it in a heat shield and routed the connector lug around to the end with a copper angle and trimmed the body lug for clearance. So far it's happy that way, if it dies we'll go the mini-starter route...
